Charles F. Bastable
1855–1945
Charles Francis Bastable, Professor of Political Economy at the University of Dublin, was a proponent of free trade. His works included expositions on international trade and clarifications of Ricardo’s and Mill’s ideas.
His classic text, <em>Public Finance</em>, first published in 1892, remains the basis for modern textbook coverage of government taxation, debt, and expenditure, and budgeting.
